The beauty of pearls

The beauty of pearls Bookmark and Share

“Every woman wants to have a beautiful pearl,” Edward Eramanis of Charles Edward Jewellers says.

“A simple pearl can be dressed up with a chain, or worn more casually on Neoprene.”

Whether it’s a present for a special occasion such as Valentine’s Day or just to show someone your love, a gift of a pearl is worth a thousand words.

We asked Edward about how a pearl is formed, what to look for and what settings are most popular.

How a pearl is made: The Broome South Sea pearl is a labour of love and formed over two years within a host oyster in the gentle waters of North Western Australia.

What to look for in a pearl: Lustre, or the shine of the pearl’s surface; slight imperfections known as blemishes; the colour of the pearl, whether it is a white, ivory, silver, pink, yellow or rich gold and finally the shape, which can range from round, near round, drop, button, baroque or circle

What style of setting is most popular at the moment: Edward says most women are looking for a simple, yet stunning pearl pendant and then to accompany, matching earings.  Most settings are simple and classic and show of the beauty of the pearl.  At Charles Edwards Jewellers, customers have the option to choose both their pearl and the setting, as well as off-the-shelf pieces.  All our pearls are South Sea Cultured Pearls – we have both the Autore range as well as Charles Edward Jewellers’ own range.
